- Sr. Legal Counsel position with a global fintech company, providing legal services related to procurement of technology, consulting, and related products and services.
- Responsible for drafting, negotiating, and advising on contracts with third-party suppliers for a variety of services and products.
- Supports IT, Marketing, Product, HR, and Finance lines of business.
- Reports to the Assistant General Counsel - Head of Sourcing.
- Provides indirect or direct supervision to Legal Specialist, Contract Manager(s), and/or lower-level Legal Counsels.
- Collaborates with stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure legal, regulatory, data security, privacy, and related risks are addressed in third-party supplier contracts.
- Drafts, negotiates, and advises on contracts related to IT, Marketing, Product, HR, and Finance, outsourcing, and other vendor contracts.
- Provides legal advice on data protection matters.
- Responsible for large deal negotiations, drafting and reviewing agreements, and providing advice on routine matters.
- Coordinates with other company departments for advice on laws and supports the implementation of required changes.
- Manages all supplier agreements, including audit of supplier performance, change of control management, renewals, issue escalation, and dispute resolution.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in contract analysis, best practices, and construction of applicable SLAs for supplier agreements.
- Oversees the process for contract approval, execution, and implementation.
- Supports Legal leadership in coordinating and attending meetings, email exchanges, and letters involving national and/or international matters.
- Provides advice on legal aspects of marketing campaigns, data protection and privacy laws, and anti-trust compliance.
- Collaborates with Compliance department to ensure AML requirements are met.
- Assists with litigation management and liaison with outside counsel.
- Assists in developing internal procedures and best practices.
- Provides work direction to outside counsel.
- Addresses general or ad-hoc legal queries/projects from internal business stakeholders.
- Requires appropriate legal qualifications and admission to practice law in relevant jurisdiction.
- 7+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or in-house legal counsel.
- 2+ years of experience supervising legal support staff.
- Experience negotiating complex agreements and strong presentation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle a heavy workload.
- Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Independent thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with contract law and ability to work with key business partners to maximize business results.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a culturally diverse environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English, fluency in a second language is advantageous.
- Preferred experience in financial services industry, blockchain technology, and privacy related matters.
