A law firm is seeking a Trademark Attorney for their Washington, . office. The ideal candidate should have 5-10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a strong focus on trademark law. Admission to practice law in the District of Columbia or state of Michigan and the USPTO is required.
Duties:
- Cultivate and generate new client relationships
- Manage new and existing client relationships
- Conduct trademark availability searches using . and international databases
- Prepare and prosecute . trademark applications and related documents
- Manage international trademark prosecution via Madrid Protocol, Paris Convention, etc.
- Oversee brand policing efforts including trademark watch notices and USPTO Official Gazette
- Handle TTAB actions and correspond with foreign associates for similar actions overseas
- Assist with trademark-related litigation in state and federal courts
- Prepare post-registration maintenance filings
- Design and implement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Complete domain name registrations, transfers, and conduct UDRP actions
- Manage trademark-related matters in the docket system
- Demonstrate superior intellect and quick grasp of complex legal issues
- Maintain strong work ethic and willingness to work as needed
- Possess good organizational and project management skills
- Proficient in online legal research and resources
- Exhibit superior legal writing and oral communication skills
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in the District of Columbia or state of Michigan and the USPTO
- 5+ years as a practicing attorney, with 5-10 years of experience
- Portable book of business of $350,000
