Job Title: Tax Manager - Real Estate Tax (Central Region Office Locations) Experience: 5+ years total corporate or international tax experience Salary Range: $84,980 to $169,650 (depending on factors such as skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business needs) Job Locations: 28 locations in the Central Region Position Summary: Deloitte is seeking a Tax Manager for their Real Estate Services Tax practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in serving real estate owners and operators, a solid understanding of Subchapter K, partnership allocation methodologies, and Real Estate Investment Trust qualification rules, and a passion for solving complex federal tax issues. This role offers the opportunity to develop and pursue creative strategies using the latest tax technologies in the real estate industry to serve clients. What You'll Do: - Provide federal tax consulting and compliance services to clients in the Real Estate industry sector. - Work directly with clients, manage the tax engagement team, and have access to an elite group of specialists when needed. - Use state of the art technology to assist clients in streamlining their tax compliance processes and achieve worldwide compliance. - Maintain and develop strong client relationships in the real estate industry. - Advise clients on various tax issues, including REIT Qualification, impact of Tax Reform on passthroughs and other Real Estate clients, business restructuring, and tax controversy. - Oversee complex federal tax compliance and consulting projects using state of the art technology and data analytics. - Manage engagement workflow, team resources, and billing. - Mentor and develop junior staff, providing leadership, counseling, career guidance, and guidance on work/life balance. Qualifications: Required: - Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week. - Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve. - 5+ years total corporate or international tax experience. - A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. - One of the following accreditations obtained: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA, Licensed Attorney, Enrolled Agent. - Certifications: Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Preferred: - Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM. - Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience. - Experience with US clients and a basic understanding of US tax. - Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. - Demonstrated research skills. - Self-starter and demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple, competing priorities. - Solid understanding of real estate tax technical and transaction skills, including partnership taxation, REIT taxation and qualification, partnership allocations, tax compliance, due diligence, acquisition/disposition planning and structuring, and experience with federal tax compliance, federal tax accounting and provisions, tax analysis, and tax research. - Demonstrated management experience.
