Iowa Legal Aid is seeking experienced and passionate attorneys to join their team as Staff Attorneys. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals who have a strong commitment to providing legal services to low-income individuals and have a demonstrated interest in poverty law. As a Staff Attorney, you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable Iowans by providing free legal assistance and community education. We prioritize work in areas such as housing, domestic violence, income maintenance, healthcare, individual rights, and consumer issues. Responsibilities:
• Provide free legal assistance and community legal education to low-income and vulnerable individuals in Iowa.
• Handle a diverse range of legal cases, from advice and brief services to full representation before administrative agencies and state and federal courts.
• Appear in court frequently and serve clients in the community through clinics and outreach events.
• Participate in impact advocacy efforts to change systems and achieve justice.
• Work collaboratively in a fast-paced and collegial environment.



Requirements:
• Juris Doctor degree and admission to practice law in Iowa, eligibility for admission on motion, or availability for the next scheduled bar examination.
• Prior legal experience preferred.
• Demonstrated interest in poverty law.
• Strong commitment to providing full legal services to low-income individuals.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collegial environment.
• Fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.

• Entry-level salary of $54,000, with non-entry level salaries dependent on experience.
