The organization is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented attorney to join their team as an Assistant General Counsel. The successful candidate will have substantial direct experience with the New York City regulatory framework and possess strong communication skills, both oral and written. This position is a Non-Competitive career level experienced (non-manager). The proposed salary range for this position is $71, - $107, (Annual).

Job Responsibilities:
• Draft and review legislation
• Draft agency rules
• Provide counsel to the agency on policy matters
• Conduct legal research
• Prepare legal memoranda
• Coordinate with various external agencies
• Handle a high volume of matters
• Function under tight time constraints

Minimum Qualifications:
• Admission to the New York State Bar
• One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar
• Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086)
• Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment

Preferred Skills:
• At least five years of legal experience, concentrating on regulatory and administrative law.

Residency Requirement:
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
