Los Angeles, CA, United States The job of SALT Senior Associate, Unclaimed Property at BDO is a unique role that combines tax and accounting skills in a consultative capacity, with a focus on unclaimed property compliance and consulting. This position offers a salary range of $70,000 - $125,000 and requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance, as well as two or more years of experience in tax, financial statement auditing or forensic accounting. The ideal candidate would also have a CPA certification, Attorney or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent designation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Power BI, Alteryx, and other software preferred. Key responsibilities for the SALT Senior Associate, Unclaimed Property include conducting research, managing unclaimed property compliance, and providing consulting services to clients. This includes identifying complex situations, analyzing research findings, and developing relationships with tax authorities. The role also involves obtaining and manipulating data for annual escheat returns, identifying exemptions and deferrals, and assisting with audit defense and voluntary disclosures. The SALT Senior Associate will also be responsible for drafting memorandums and opinions, participating in developing policy and procedures, and representing clients on unclaimed property audits and voluntary disclosures. In addition, the SALT Senior Associate will work with the Core Tax and Audit Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers to provide SALT expertise to clients. This includes managing client expectations and deliverables, and working with leadership on marketing, networking, and business development. The role also involves staying up-to-date on relevant unclaimed property statutory, regulatory, and case law changes. The SALT Senior Associate will also have supervisory responsibilities, such as training and evaluating the performance of SALT Experienced Associates, Associates, and Interns. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and analytical skills, organizational abilities, and the ability to work well in a deadline-driven environment.
