A law firm in Oakland, CA, is seeking an ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The successful candidate will provide crucial advice to plan trustees on various issues, draft and review trust and plan documents, negotiate service provider agreements, ensure regulatory compliance, and assess benefits claims and appeals, including withdrawal liability matters.

Job Duties

  • Provide expert advice to plan trustees on a broad range of ERISA and employee benefits issues.
  • Draft, review, and update trust and plan documents in compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Review and negotiate service provider agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the firm's clients.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance matters, staying abreast of changes in relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Assess benefits claims, manage appeals processes, and handle withdrawal liability matters effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ERISA/Employee Benefits Attorney.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active and in good standing membership with the state bar.

Certifications

  • Certification in Employee Benefits Law (CEBS) or similar credentials is a plus.

Skills

  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to analyze complex legal documents.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills for reviewing and finalizing service provider agreements.

Education
