A law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with the following responsibilities, requirements, education, certifications, and skills:

Job Overview:

The Litigation Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing effective legal services to clients and supervising attorneys, conducting thorough legal research and analysis, drafting pleadings and case documents, attending hearings in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and managing cases from commencement to resolution.

Duties:

  • Provide effective and reliable legal services to clients and supervising attorneys
  • Conduct thorough factual and legal research and analysis in pleadings, memoranda, and other written documents
  • Draft pleadings and other case documents
  • Attend hearings throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island
  • Manage matters from commencement to final resolution
  • Communicate competently and professionally with clients and supervising attorneys

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of prior associate-level experience in general litigation
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to learn new substantive legal topics as needed
  • Knowledge of federal and state court practice, experience preparing answers, motions, and other routine filings
  • Experience handling hearings and depositions
  • Significant case management experience

Education:

  • Juris Doctor

Certifications:

  • Must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in Rhode Island
  • Must also be (or willing to become) and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in Massachusetts

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization and matter management skills
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively with clients, partners, associates, and support staff
  • Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team
  • Familiarity with and ability to prepare basic and complex litigation documents
  • Familiarity with federal and state court procedural rules and practices
