Role and Responsibilities: - Conduct legal and historical research relating to current and potential litigation, strategic planning, etc. - Coordinate with outside counsel, clients, and other stakeholders regarding current and potential litigation - Assess requests for legal assistance and investigate complaints about rights violations - Conduct intakes and client candidate screening - Develop, conduct, and participate in litigation (., drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, conducting discovery, participating in oral arguments, etc.) based on the Organization’s goals in federal and state courts - Engage in advocacy work to advance individual liberty and the Organization’s objectives through non-litigation means (., regulatory comments, public speaking, public events and education efforts) - Actively promote the Organization’s programs and values through written works, videos, radio/television, and other media - Help supervise volunteers, legal fellows, and support staff - Represent the Organization in a positive, professional manner - Perform other duties and manage projects as assigned Qualifications: - Law degree from a . accredited law school and admission to a state bar (good standing; no past disciplinary actions in any bar) - At least 3 years of federal civil litigation experience - Ability to contribute to developing high-impact strategy that considers sequence, framing of arguments, forum and venue, likely outcomes, and appellate paths - Ability to litigate collaboratively, juggle multiple projects at once, be decisive, and exercise good judgment under stressful situations - Excellent writing, argument framing, communication, and organization skills - Passion for fighting for liberty and limiting the size and scope of government - Positive, team-first attitude, high drive, curiosity, and commitment to meeting goals on time - Exceptional organization and follow-through - Emotional maturity and the ability to successfully work with strong personalities - Proficient in legal research tools, case management software, and other technology and software - Ability to travel within the United States as required or directed Benefits: - Competitive compensation - Generous paid time off and holidays - Medical, dental, and vision insurance (99% employer paid) - 401(k) retirement savings plan with 100% to 5% match - Opportunities for professional development and career growth How to Apply: To apply, please submit the following: - A cover letter explaining why you want to join our team and why we should hire you - A complete, up-to-date resume - Representative work products showing your capabilities (public/non-privileged records only) - At least 3 personal and 3 professional references Please note, we are an equal opportunity employer and welcome all qualified applicants.
