JOB TITLE: Family Attorney

ORGANIZATION: Connecticut Legal Services, Inc. (CLS)

SUMMARY:
- CLS is seeking skilled and dedicated attorneys to fill six staff attorney positions in the Family Unit
- These positions will provide legal advocacy for domestic violence survivors seeking restraining orders in Waterbury, Willimantic, Bridgeport, and Stamford's family court
- Attorneys will maintain an active caseload, conduct community outreach, and collaborate with social service agencies
- Applicants must have a deep commitment to advocacy for low-income and marginalized communities and be admitted to the Connecticut bar

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain an active caseload of representation and advice cases
- Appear regularly in court and/or administrative hearings
- Conduct community outreach remotely and in-person
- Coordinate with social service agencies
- Identify larger trends and issues for clients and develop strategies to address them

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to advocacy for low-income and marginalized communities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and work independently
- Creativity and flexibility in problem-solving
- Admitted to the Connecticut bar
- Experience in or connections to low-income communities and communities of color
- Knowledge of relevant law and courtroom practice in family law

START DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY: $61,362-$120,584, depending on experience; excellent vacation/leave, health, and other benefits
