Job Overview:

The Family Attorney will counsel and represent clients on various family law matters, including child custody, domestic violence, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate issues. The role requires exceptional communication and negotiation skills to navigate emotionally charged situations effectively.

Duties:

  • Assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence.
  • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, analyzing the situation, and forming a strategic plan of action.
  • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed.
  • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed.
  • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to move through the civil litigation process effectively.

Requirements:

  • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association).
  • Proven negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations.
  • Record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants.
  • Experience at a legal firm working on family law and real estate issues (determining marital property) for at least 1-2 years is required.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
