Manager, Core Tax Services-Corporate/ASC 740: - Job title: Manager, Core Tax Services-Corporate/ASC 740 - Location: Boston, MA, United States - Salary information: - California Range: $102,300 - $150,000 - Colorado Range: $115,000 - $135,000 - New York City/ Valhalla Range: $110,000 - $150,000 - Washington Range: $86,000 - $115,000 - Experience: Five (5) or more years of prior experience, required - Department: Core Tax Services (“CTS”) Job Description: H1: Manager, Core Tax Services-Corporate/ASC 740 H2: Responsible for Advising Clients on Tax Implications and Compliance The Core Tax Services Manager – ASC740 is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, and identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations. This role also involves acting as the primary client contact for complex corporate tax and ASC 740 tax issues. Job Duties: - Tax Compliance: - Ensures compliance with applicable authorities and minimizes tax and reporting burdens for clients - Conducts top-level review of tax returns and resolves all tax issues with clients - Communicates with Assurance clients about identified tax issues - Plans and reviews tax processes and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, and billing - Manages client relationships and provides timely advice - Research: - Identifies when research is needed and reports analysis clearly and concisely - Trains managers and staff on research skills and framing ASC 740 tax issues for analysis - Involves firm specialists when necessary - ASC 740-10 (fka FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: - Applies Firm policies and standards regarding ASC 740 - Clearly and concisely explains and discusses components of the income tax provision and uncertain tax positions to clients - Communicates with Assurance team to plan tax accrual reviews - Reviews tax provisions and prepared workpapers - Utilizes and manages Specialized Tax Services (“STS”) as needed - Tax Consulting: - Assists with developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits and decrease taxes - Considers CTS and STS consulting specialties for each client - Serves as a technical resource and provides effective exam support - Frames projects and issues for delegation to seniors and associates - Tax Specialization: - Develops an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities in one or more areas of taxation - May organize and conduct internal CPE training sessions in area of specialization - Strategy Development: - Develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients or the Firm - Makes suggestions for improving previous work products or approaches - May lead marketing campaigns and present complex strategies to clients - Collaborates with the Firm’s National Tax and Specialized Tax Services to deliver high-quality deliverables and/or analyses on ASC 740 - Other duties as required Supervisory Responsibilities: - Supervises Associates and Senior Associates on all projects - Reviews work prepared by Associates and Senior Associates and provides feedback - Trains Associates and Seniors on software tools and acts as a Career Advisor - Schedules and manages workload of Associates and Senior Associates - Provides performance feedback Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, required; Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred - Experience: Five (5) or more years of prior experience, required; Experience in managing the process of preparing and auditing ASC740 computations, required; Supervisory experience, required; Multinational client experience, preferred - License/Certifications: CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required - Software: Experience with Microsoft Office Tools and tax research databases, preferred - Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Superior verbal and written communication skills - Ability to effectively delegate work - Strong analytical, research, and decision-making skills - Ability to work well in a team environment and develop and manage a team of tax professionals - Ability to compose written tax advice and maintain client relationships - Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact About Us: - BDO delivers assurance, tax, digital technology solutions, and financial advisory services to clients throughout the country and around the globe. - We offer industry-specific practices, world-class resources, and an unparalleled commitment to meeting our clients’ needs. - We currently serve more than 400 publicly traded domestic and international clients. - BDO brings world-class resources and exceptional service to each and every one of our clients. - BDO USA is a member of BDO International, the world’s fifth largest accounting network.
