Paralegal Kingstonville is looking for a Paralegal I to join our team to provide a wide variety of legal support to our client. The successful candidate will work on-site at the . Attorney's Office Southern District of California, and report to Kingstonville’s designated Project Manager. Responsibilities • Legal Research: Using a basic knowledge of the application of a body of law, regulations, precedents, and practices covering one or more recurring types of legal actions, performs research, evaluation, and analysis of a variety of routine legal topics and points of law. • Legal Writing: Following established USAO precedents, drafts initial legal and administrative briefs, motions, oppositions to defense motions and correspondence for AUSA review. • Preparation and Management of Evidence and Discovery: Prepares and organizes documentation and evidence for production as discovery and for use in trial. Identifies and locates missing information. Reviews administrative records and discovery production for privileged content and other content for redaction. • Case Support: Participates in pre-trial witness conferences, noting any deficiencies in case materials (., missing documents, conflicting statements) and additional issues or other matters requiring investigation prior to trial. As required, prepares, and organizes trial exhibits, documents, memoranda, reports, and correspondence relating to cases for review by AUSAs. Requirements • Prior experience in the legal field is a plus, but not required. Successful applicants will possess a strong interest in the law and public service. • Excellent customer service and time management skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. • A Bachelors’ Degree is a plus, but not a requirement. • Must be able to work 40 hours per week, excluding Federal Holidays. • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation.
