Organization is seeking an experienced Attorney II – Assistant Prosecutor to join their team. This position is responsible for representing the citizens in criminal, quasi-criminal, and civil matters by reviewing, enforcing, and litigating the applicable laws. The successful candidate must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and must possess a law license. This position offers a competitive salary of K-110 (A) $68, Annually and comes with a Monday – Friday, 8:00 . – 5:00 . schedule. The primary duties and responsibilities of the Attorney II – Assistant Prosecutor include: Representing citizens in criminal, quasi-criminal, and civil matters by reviewing, enforcing, and litigating the applicable laws. Conducting screening, charging, and handling complex capital felony and homicide cases in the Appellate, Circuit, District, and Family courts. Conducting trial preparations, including reviewing and assessing investigative reports and evidence. Reviewing charging requests and assigning cases and projects to staff. Ensuring completion of tasks, developing procedures and best practices, monitoring performances and providing legal and tactical strategies to other assistant prosecutors. Advising staff concerning changes in the law and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Representing the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) by reviewing, enforcing, and litigating criminal, child abuse, neglect, delinquency, child support, and other quasi-criminal and civil matters. Advocating for the OPA’s position in various hearings, such as preliminary examinations, motions, restitution, and probation violations. Screens and charges felony and misdemeanor criminal cases. Preparing and filing motions, stipulations, responses to defense pleadings, and other legal actions for upcoming and current trials. Researching, evaluating and investigating in preparation for trials, including recording accurate disposition notes and consulting with potential expert witnesses. Interviewing victims, witnesses, law enforcement, and other relevant parties. Directing legal assistants and victim advocates on producing exhibits for hearings, trials, and subpoena issuance. Responding to case inquiries and legal questions from victims, witnesses, law enforcement, clients, and the public. Researching, developing and proposing alternative approaches to divert and treat trauma-exposed participants outside the criminal justice system. Meeting with victims to discuss strengths and weaknesses of a case, potential solutions or pleas, and explaining judicial processes. Establishing and fostering positive and productive relationships with legal staff, court officials, law enforcement, and other members of the judicial system. Calculating sentencing guidelines for felony offenses. Performing related work as required. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Law license and any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. 1 to 3 years of related work experience practicing law in government or family law.
