Law firm Varnum LLP is looking to hire an experienced Construction Litigation Attorney to join their Litigation Practice Team in one of their southeast Michigan offices. The ideal candidate will have 8 to 15 years of significant experience in construction law, with a strong working knowledge of construction contracts and all types of construction claims. Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate standard form contracts (., AIA, Consensus Docs, etc.) as well as custom contracts
- Handle issues related to payment terms, limitations of liability, warranties, termination, and ADR
- Manage all types of construction claims, including delays, inefficiencies, defects, warranties, design, liens, and bonds
- Lead trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings
- Argue motions, take and defend depositions (including experts), and conduct thorough research and writing
- Demonstrate business development skills, with a meaningful portable book of business and potential for additional growth
- Manage files, supervise client contact, and lead commercial cases
- Juggle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of responsiveness
- Provide exceptional attention to detail and outstanding client service
- Must be admitted to the Michigan bar

Qualifications:
- 8 to 15 years of experience in construction law
- Strong working knowledge of construction contracts and all types of construction claims
- Experience with drafting and negotiating standard form contracts as well as custom contracts
- Previous experience in handling construction claims, trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings
- Business development skills and a meaningful portable book of business
- Ability to manage files, supervise client contact, and lead commercial cases
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Detail-oriented with exceptional research and writing abilities
- Must be admitted to the Michigan bar
