Scope of the Position: - Senior Staff Attorney/CA Policy Lead will coordinate NHLP's role as a California support center, providing technical assistance, conducting trainings, and engaging in policy advocacy and litigation. - Background in eviction defense, affirmative litigation, and federally-assisted housing programs preferred. - Responsible for providing legal and technical support to housing attorneys, advocates, and organizations, as well as leading legislative efforts and engaging in strategic impact litigation. - Will supervise one attorney staff member and lead strategic planning for NHLP's CA team. Requisite Skills: - Understanding of and preferably, working experience with public and assisted housing programs. - Supervision and/or management experience. - Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and the Violence Against Women Act. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Experience in training and litigation. - Excellent group facilitation, analytical, research, and writing skills. - Strong commitment to advancing housing and racial justice. - . degree and license to practice law in California. - Minimum of 7 years of legal experience. Salary and Benefits: - Salary tied to NHLP's attorney salary scale, dependent on qualifications and years of experience. - Expected range within the scale is $100,000-$115,000, with higher starting salary for attorneys with more than 15 years of experience. - Fully paid health, dental, vision, and other insurance. - 3% of salary contributed to employer-sponsored 401(k).
