Job Description:
- SUSE Legal Team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial) to join the commercial legal team.
- The Legal Team is undergoing a transition towards best-in-class, partnering effectively with the business and positioning for growth.
- In this role, the Senior Legal Counsel will work as part of a team to provide legal support to SUSE sales, product and engineering, and procurement teams.
- Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial, IP and technology agreements, cross-functional collaboration, improving and expanding commercial operations, compliance with laws and regulations, and providing legal advice and training to SUSE colleagues.
- Secondary responsibilities may include tasks related to open-source licensing, management of strategic projects, intellectual property rights management and protection, data privacy and security, export compliance, sanctions regulations and legislation, and employment/HR legal support.
- The Senior Legal Counsel will have the opportunity to work autonomously, take initiative, and collaborate with colleagues across teams and jurisdictions.
- The role also requires strong technical, drafting, research, and negotiation skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The Senior Legal Counsel will have a strong commercial/business acumen and an ability to evaluate legal risk in the context of the wider commercial strategy and corporate objectives.
