- LSA is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama, providing free civil legal advocacy to low-income Alabamians.
- The John Lewis Fellowship, established in 2019, offers young attorneys the chance to gain experience at a nonprofit civil legal aid law firm in Alabama.
- Fellows will work from any of LSA's statewide offices and focus on using legal advocacy, education, and outreach to address community-identified issues.
- Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to social justice and advocacy for marginalized communities.
- This fellowship is open to candidates sitting for a Bar Exam in July 2024 or February 2025, or those already licensed in any state.
- Preference will be given to candidates licensed in Alabama, with a demonstrated interest in public interest law and experience working with marginalized communities.
- Strong legal writing and communication skills are required, and bilingual candidates are preferred.
