The Tax Manager - Accounting Methods and Periods will work with the Credits, Incentives and Methods (CIM) group to provide tax consulting and advisory services related to the timing of recognizing revenue, expense, capitalization, cost recovery, and inventory accounting. This position will involve managing projects, writing technical advice memorandums, and interacting with both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in public accounting and hold a CPA or JD. This position offers a competitive salary range of $95,400 to $207,000 per year and is a full-time position with the ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities:

- Provide tax consulting and advisory services related to the timing of recognizing revenue, expense, capitalization, cost recovery, and inventory accounting.
- Manage projects and teams of 2-4 professionals, including calculation of 481(a) adjustments and IRS exam support.
- Research and write tax advice, opinion, and position memorandums.
- Identify and pursue AMP services for existing and prospective clients.
- Collaborate with RSM Managers, Sr. Managers, and Partners.
- Train, mentor, develop, and grow AMP professionals.
- Build relationships and collaborate with RSM’s Growth Acceleration Teams and Enterprise Account Leaders.
- Offer flexibility in schedule and ability to work remotely.

Requirements:

- Minimum . or . degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- CPA or JD required.
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting, with a proven track record of project management and mentorship.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel to client sites, up to 25% of the time.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Masters in Accounting, Tax, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working with tax accounting methods and inventory.
- Experience working for a national accounting firm in a specialized practice area.
