The United States Trustee Program (USTP) is seeking second- and third-year law students to join their team as Law Student Volunteers for Fall 2024. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system, while working with a national program with 21 regions and 89 field offices.

Job Description:

Law Student Volunteers will have the opportunity to work in either the Executive Office for . Trustees (EOUST) in Washington, DC or one of the 89 field offices located throughout the United States.

EOUST interns will work directly with the Director or Deputy Director for Field Operations on projects related to consumer and chapter 11 bankruptcy law. This may include conducting legal research, data analysis, and fact-finding, as well as assisting with speeches and presentations. Field Office Interns will assist attorneys with various tasks related to bankruptcy cases, including preparing for court appearances, developing fraud referrals, and monitoring meetings between debtors and creditors.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be second- and third-year law students with excellent research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a desire to work as part of a small team. Candidates should also be committed to fairness and integrity in the administration of the bankruptcy system. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in bankruptcy, litigation, administrative law, policy, and legislation.
