Job Summary: The Senior Counsel, Real Estate & Construction position at Rivian is responsible for managing all legal aspects related to the real estate and construction activities of the company. This includes handling contracts, agreements, and negotiations for the acquisition, optimization, and build out of Rivian's real estate portfolio. The Senior Counsel will also provide strategic support to the Real Estate and Facilities team and work closely with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient process. This role requires a strong background in commercial real estate and construction, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal clients to promote collaboration and teamwork - Provide strategic support to the Real Estate and Facilities team for the acquisition, optimization, and build out of Rivian's real estate portfolio - Work with the Procurement team on architecture, engineering, and construction strategy to support Rivian facilities - Review and analyze legal documents related to real estate and construction, providing timely and accurate guidance to internal clients - Collaborate with teams involved in acquiring, leasing, designing, engineering, constructing, and developing Rivian facilities - Advise and support resolution of conflicts related to real estate, design, engineering, or construction agreements - Identify and minimize risks related to design, engineering, and construction contracts - Draft and negotiate various legal documents, including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and construction contracts - Assist with property due diligence, including reviewing title reports, surveys, and environmental reports - Continuously improve processes and procedures within the Real Estate and Construction legal team - Manage outside counsel to achieve Rivian's goals and objectives - Handle special projects as assigned by supervisor Qualifications: - . degree from an ABA-approved law school - Active member in good standing with a State Bar Association - Minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial real estate and construction - Combination of corporate and law firm experience preferred - Automotive or manufacturing experience a plus - Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment - Strong leadership skills and attention to detail - Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills - Record of effective cross-functional collaboration and ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously - Strong negotiation skills and ability to find resolution to disputes - Willingness to travel as needed and work flexible hours Salary Information: - Palo Alto, CA: $186,000 - $232,000 annually (Actual compensation based on experience and location) - Irvine, CA: $171,000 - $213,000 annually (Actual compensation based on experience and location) Benefits Summary: - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families - Coverage effective on first day of employment - Rivian covers most of the premiums Equal Opportunity: Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
