Overview:

- AECOM is a trusted infrastructure consulting firm, delivering professional services across various industries.
- We are looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel to support our operations in the Western .
- This hybrid position will be based in our larger offices within the West Region, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Denver.
- The successful candidate will have an established career in construction law and legal issues related to contracts for engineering, construction, and other technical services.
- This role will involve a combination of remote and in-office work, with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week.

Responsibilities:

- Provide guidance on risk management and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and other legal documents related to engineering, construction, and other services.
- Act in an advisory capacity and make recommendations that impact the organization's business.
- Work with management and staff to resolve pre-litigation disputes and potential claims.
- Supervise and manage litigation, including professional liability, breach of contract, and personal injury/wrongful death matters.
- Manage external counsel and litigation budgets.
- Handle subpoenas, document requests, and other litigation-related items.
- Prepare and review disclosures to public agencies and support corporate secretary functions.
- Conduct research into legislation, cases, and legal precedents.
- Prepare legal memoranda and briefs related to organizational risks and activities.
- Provide guidance on compliance with federal and provincial laws and regulations.
- Support multiple offices and team members within the West Region.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal department and the company.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
- . degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing with any . state bar.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering and construction law.
- Capable of presenting to senior management and working independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Prior experience at an engineering, architecture, or construction company.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues.
- Outgoing, personable, and a team player.
- Self-driven, resourceful, and able to work independently and in groups.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements and priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.
