Legal Secretary The candidate answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages and schedules appointments; directs or transfers inquiries to appropriate personnel. Drafts, edits, finalizes, serves, files with court, and/or distributes correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, reports and other legal documents; compiles and numbers exhibits, excerpts of record, and other attachments. Organizes and reviews discovery documents, prepares indices, pre-reviews for redactions, and prepares informational spreadsheets. Interacts and works with court personnel, outside counsel, and opposing counsel; interacts and works with other departments within the Borough. Performs legal research using an assortment of legal resources. Prepares, organizes, and maintains electronic files and paper files in accordance with the Records Retention Policies set by the Borough. Maintains and updates library materials. Retrieves incoming mail, calendars due dates, organizes and updates schedules and calendars, makes travel plans for attorneys, and scans and distributes mail. Coordinates with various accounting departments to obtain information for filing property tax matters, foreclosures, demand notices, and processes and service of Permanent Fund Dividend execution packages. Assists in maintaining office supply inventory, prepares reorders, manages purchase orders; processes invoices, reimbursement requests, and bills for payment. Performs related duties. High School diploma or equivalent degree is required. Should have 3+ years of experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position.
