Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Patent Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling various patent projects, including drafting, prosecution, post-grant proceedings, opinions, and due diligence. This position requires a junior Associate Attorney with 2-3 years of experience, preferably with a master’s degree or equivalent experience in Organic Chemistry or a related field. Admission to practice before the USPTO is essential.

Duties:

• Drafting patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents related to patent prosecution.
• Prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.
• Conducting due diligence reviews related to patent matters.
• Providing legal opinions on patentability, infringement, validity, and operating freedom.
• Handling post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews and post-grant reviews.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of experience as an Associate Attorney, preferably in patent law.
• Master’s degree in organic chemistry or a related field, with a preference for a PhD or equivalent experience in patent preparation and prosecution of small molecule pharmaceuticals.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
