Responsibilities:

• Make risk adverse, common sense underwriting decisions
• Respond in a timely manner to underwriting inquiries from agents
• Research, analyze, and interpret statutes, regulations, and opinions to determine insurability of titles
• Provide analysis and guidance on relevant federal and state laws and regulations to agent network
• Participate in agent underwriting review process and support recruitment and retention of agents
• Support Claims Department with state law analysis and practices
• Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase company goodwill and profit
• Ability to travel overnight
• Create and present educational and underwriting materials for employees and agents
• Prepare bulletins, alerts, memoranda, and other agent communications

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate Degree and license to practice law
• 3-5 years of experience in title insurance underwriting or claims
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to written and oral instructions
• Proficiency with MS Office and email
• Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday and use hands, talk, and hear
• Preferred: Ability to work unsupervised and collaboratively, proficient with internet research, exceptional presentation skills
