Legal Counsel at ActBlue - Remote

THE OPPORTUNITY:

- ActBlue's legal team is seeking a Counsel to lead and own legal responsibilities across the organization
- The Counsel will provide strategic legal counsel, subject matter expertise, and thought partnership in areas such as contracts, litigation, and regulatory matters
- This role reports to the General Counsel and requires a keen understanding of mitigating business risk and managing complex projects

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

- Manage the contracts process and develop best practices, policies, procedures, and training related to contract management
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives
- Manage and coordinate litigation and adversarial matters, including legal holds, internal discovery, and responding to legal process
- Develop and enhance policies and procedures to mitigate business risk, partnering with staff across the organization to implement and administer them
- Monitor and assess federal, state, and local campaign finance, tax, and corporate laws and legislation
- Work closely with ActBlue's Compliance team to respond to regulatory inquiries
- Manage state corporate and charitable organization registrations and assist with tax filings and audits
- Work with outside counsel in an effective and cost-efficient manner

WHAT YOU BRING:

- At least 4 years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or combination
- Commitment to ActBlue's non-profit mission
- Extensive experience in business contracts and managing complex legal projects
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school and active law license
- Ability to provide thought partnership and leadership in developing innovative legal and risk management strategies
- A generalist background and/or ability to quickly learn new areas of law and integrate into the work of stakeholders

LOCATION AND COMPENSATION:

- Full-time, remote, salaried position with limited travel required
- ActBlue is currently authorized to support remote work employees in 43 states
- Salary range: $120,000 - $136,000, final offer may vary based on experience and other factors
