Lakeshore Legal Aid is a non-profit organization that provides free legal representation to low-income individuals, seniors, and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Supervising Attorney to lead our team of attorneys in our Detroit Eviction Prevention office.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise staff attorneys and support staff to ensure high-quality legal representation is provided to clients.
• Monitor and provide guidance on substantive legal work.
• Mentor and train staff attorneys for professional development.
• Ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Prepare and submit required funder reports.
• Maintain a caseload and co-counsel with staff attorneys.
• Develop and implement advocacy strategies to address systemic legal problems.
• Foster a productive work environment.
• Play a leadership role in legal services organizations, bar associations, and community groups.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• degree.
• Admission to the Michigan Bar or the ability to be admitted through reciprocity.
• 5+ years of experience in practice.
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to public interest or pro bono work.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Strong leadership and motivational abilities.
• Flexibility.

Salary:

The starting salary for a Supervising Attorney licensed in Michigan is $75,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications. We also offer excellent benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, and paid time off.
