- Seeking a Staff Attorney focused on domestic violence for the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project
- Statewide program in collaboration with Legal Services of Eastern Michigan, Legal Aid of Western Michigan, Legal Services of South Central Michigan, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, and Lakeshore Legal Aid
- Provides outreach and legal representation to victims of crime, primarily domestic violence and elder abuse survivors
- Part of the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP), which works to advance the safety, independence, and economic stability of those affected by poverty, racism, and other oppressive systems
- MAP has provided civil legal aid for over 50 years and manages six statewide programs
- Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Michigan or able to take the next bar exam
- Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals and underserved populations
- Experience with issues impacting domestic violence or elder abuse survivors is a plus
- Salary starting at $60,000, with a generous benefits package including health, vision, dental, and 401K
- Option for annual $1,500 payout if health benefits are not needed

As a Staff Attorney, you will have the opportunity to provide legal representation and advocacy to victims of crime, helping them navigate the complex legal system and access justice. With offices throughout Michigan and collaboration with other legal aid organizations, you will have the support and resources to make a real impact in your community.

The Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project is a division of the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP), a longstanding organization dedicated to advancing social justice and addressing systemic inequalities. As part of the MAP team, you will join a group of passionate individuals working towards a common goal of promoting safety, independence, and economic stability for those affected by poverty, racism, and other oppressive systems.

To be considered for this position, applicants must be licensed to practice law in Michigan or able to take the next bar exam. A demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals and underserved populations is also required. Experience with issues impacting domestic violence or elder abuse survivors is a plus.

In addition to a salary starting at $60,000, we offer a generous benefits package including health, vision, dental, and 401K. If you do not require health benefits, you have the option to receive an annual $1,500 payout in addition to your base salary. We also have a generous leave policy and are a qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
