Core Tax Associate - Summer 2024 (Madison)

Job Summary:
- Responsible for assisting with tax returns and research for clients.
- Utilizes basic research skills and tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review.

Job Duties:
- Ensures compliance with applicable authorities and minimizes tax and reporting burdens for clients.
- Applies understanding of client's unique circumstances and prepares required filings using a system of review and documentation.
- Utilizes Firm compliance software for efficiency in tax preparation.
- Teams with Senior for completion of projects and documents all significant tax positions.
- Correctly and proactively applies Firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Assists with income tax provisions.
- Assists with developing and implementing methods to decrease clients' taxes.
- Applies knowledge of tax structure and filing requirements in completing assigned work.
- Drafts clear and concise memorandums and correspondence.
- Identifies potential tax issues or opportunities during the compliance process.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics required OR Bachelor's degree in other focus area and CPA certification required.
- Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Accounting based internship preferred.
- Eligible to sit for CPA exams and progress towards admission to practice in a . jurisdiction or progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting.
- Takes appropriate actions without being asked.
- Seeks advice of appropriate superiors for compliance issues.
- Ability to prepare simple tax returns.

Salary Information:
- Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
- California Range: $65,000 - $82,000
- Colorado Range: $56,000 - $66,000
- New York City/ Valhalla Range: $72,000 - $78,000
- Washington Range: $65,000 - $82,000
