# Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Juvenile Justice Division Assistant State’s Attorney The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced Assistant State’s Attorney to join the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau of the Juvenile Justice Division. This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary. ## Job Title: Assistant State’s Attorney, Criminal Division ## Department: Criminal Prosecutions Bureau The Assistant State’s Attorney will be assigned to cover geographical areas in Cook County, including 2650 S. California, Chicago IL. and surrounding suburban districts including Skokie, Rolling Meadows, Maywood, Bridgeview, and Markham. ## Working Environment & Reporting Structure: The Assistant State’s Attorney will be responsible for managing misdemeanor, felony, and traffic caseloads. They will handle preliminary hearings, grand jury indictments, and bond hearings for felony cases and must be able to work well with people from diverse communities, work independently, have excellent time management skills, and be self-initiating. The Assistant State’s Attorney will also be expected to effectively communicate the mission and values of the CCSAO to members of the community. ## Duties/Requirements: - Prepare misdemeanor, felony and traffic cases for disposition by plea, trial, or alternative prosecution resolution - Research legal issues, draft pretrial motions or other relevant legal documents, and respond to defense pretrial and post-trial motions appropriately - Litigate pretrial and post-trial motions, petitions to rescind summary suspensions, bench trials, and/or jury trials - Conduct bond hearings at both the misdemeanor and felony levels - Communicate with and support victims and witnesses throughout the pendency of case proceedings - Make appropriate charging decisions in felony matters through preliminary hearings or indictment before the Grand Jury of Cook County; and - Present witness testimony before the Grand Jury ## Minimum Qualifications: - Possess a - Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, solid work ethic, attention to detail, accountability, and sound judgment ## Salary: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. ## Application: To apply, forward a copy of your resume and statement of interest to Tolu Tepede, Legal Hiring at .
