Salary: $105, - $173, per year Job Title: Claim Counsel, Recovery Management Experience: 5 or more years of relevant legal or claim handling work experience Location: Remote/hybrid (CT-Hartford, IL-Naperville) Time Type: Full time Job Requisition ID: R-34586 Overview: - Travelers is a highly reputable property casualty insurer with over 160 years of experience in the industry. - The company is committed to taking care of their customers, communities, and employees. - They offer a culture that values innovation and collaboration, and strives to create a positive work environment. - The company is currently seeking a Claim Counsel for their Recovery Management team. - This role involves conducting thorough investigations, analysis, and evaluation of claims to achieve superior customer service and optimize claim results. - The position also includes providing legal advice to colleagues and participating in strategic initiatives. - The Recovery Management team focuses on subrogation, salvage, and loss mitigation on Surety and Management Liability claims. Responsibilities: - Analyze, investigate, and resolve BSI claims of varying levels of severity, while following operational policies. - Prepare and present reports for management that accurately reflect loss development, potential/actual financial exposure, and other important information. - Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and actively utilize litigation management plans and budgets. - Communicate with underwriting on significant claim exposures. - Identify all recovery opportunities and coordinate recovery efforts with the Recovery Management Unit and Claim management. - Travel to attend mediations, settlement conferences, claim conferences, and other important events. - Coordinate recovery efforts with Claim Professionals to identify potential sources of recovery and optimize loss mitigation opportunities. - Research, analyze, and provide recovery and loss mitigation advice to colleagues on claims of varying complexity. - Obtain and maintain required licenses. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate Degree. - Properly licensed, registered or authorized, and in good standing, to practice law in the jurisdiction in which you will be working. - Five or more years of relevant legal or claim handling work experience. - Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to make sound decisions. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Time management skills and attention to detail. - Ability to build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners.
