Summary:

OneMain Financial is seeking an experienced and talented Assistant General Counsel to support their growing consumer lending business. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional business partners and providing legal advice and guidance on consumer credit card accounts, as well as supporting other financial product lines. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree and at least 5 years of experience in advising clients in the consumer financial services industry. They should also have a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations, as well as excellent communication and strategic thinking skills. This position offers the opportunity to work with senior leadership and make a significant impact on the company's success.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and guidance on consumer credit card accounts, marketing, origination, issuance, and servicing.
Act as a strategic legal advisor and work with the business to develop compliant solutions.
Collaborate with various corporate functions to identify and manage risk.
Anticipate and address potential issues and evaluate risks.
Stay up-to-date on current regulations and trends and provide relevant guidance.
Partner with outside counsel when necessary.
Lead and deliver on other projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience advising on consumer financial services, specifically credit card programs.
Juris Doctorate degree and admission to a state bar.
Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
Familiarity with legal issues in installment lending, consumer protections, and point-of-sale programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to distill complex topics for discussion with clients at all levels of the organization.
Proven track record of providing effective legal counsel in a corporate environment.
Highly motivated with sound judgment.

Location:

This position is located in either Wilmington, DE; Baltimore, MD; or Charlotte, NC and offers a flexible hybrid schedule.
