SUMMARY: The Central Indiana Medical-Legal Partnership Project, part of Indiana Legal Services, Inc., is seeking a Staff Attorney to join their expanding team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This full-time position will involve representing patients of healthcare partners in civil legal court proceedings and other matters, providing training to healthcare staff, and performing on-site outreach. The successful candidate will have a . degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in Indiana, with at least two years of legal experience preferred. A demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice and serving disadvantaged populations is required. The starting salary for this position is $57,425, with a range up to $75,535 depending on experience. A valid Indiana driver’s license and reliable transportation are also required. JOB TITLE: Staff Attorney - Central Indiana Medical-Legal Partnership Project JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Attorney at the Central Indiana Medical-Legal Partnership Project will represent patients of healthcare partners in civil legal court proceedings and other matters, provide training to healthcare staff, and perform on-site outreach. This position requires a . degree from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to practice law in Indiana, with at least two years of legal experience preferred. The attorney will work under the supervision of the Project Director and other attorneys. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Staff Attorney will be responsible for a variety of duties, including: - Completing and reviewing applications for legal services and assessing legal issues - Providing legal advice and representation to MLP clients in various poverty law areas, such as housing, family law, consumer, and public benefits - Drafting legal documents for clients - Supervising law students and volunteers - Cultivating and strengthening relationships with partner organizations and patients through on-site outreach and training - Planning and implementing regular outreach sessions with partner organizations - Developing networking relationships with local bar associations and community agencies - Exhibiting a high level of energy and commitment to the position and ILS mission - Balancing a healthy case load with other duties and responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have: - A . degree from an ABA-accredited law school - Admission to practice law in Indiana - A demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice and serving disadvantaged populations - At least two years of legal experience . - A valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation - The ability to work independently and collaboratively with the MLP team SALARY AND BENEFITS: The starting salary for this position is $57,425, with a range up to $75,535 depending on experience.
