A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an Entry to Mid-level Associate Attorney to primarily represent employees in employment matters, including discrimination and whistleblowing cases. The ideal candidate will be involved in all aspects of cases, from developing claims to conducting trials and hearings, demonstrating strong writing and analytical skills, and a passion for labor, employment, civil rights, or related areas of law.

 

Job Duties:

  • Represent employees in employment matters, including discrimination and whistleblowing cases.
  • Handle cases involving employee discipline, investigations, and demand letters.
  • Participate in all aspects and stages of cases, including developing claims, interviewing clients, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, depositions, negotiations, mediations, court appearances, and trials/hearings.
  • Maintain extensive client contact and provide oral advocacy.
  • Conduct legal research and writing in various areas of law.

 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated interest in labor, employment, civil rights, or similar focus.
  • Should have 0-4 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience in litigation before administrative agencies, courts, or arbitrators.
  • Involvement with a labor organization or other legal work in the employment and labor-law field.
  • Admission to or eligibility for admission to the DC Bar.
  • Virginia and/or Maryland Bar admission is a plus.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Strong research abilities.
  • Effective communication with clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the DC Bar. Virginia and/or Maryland Bar admission is advantageous.
