The Legal Director and Associate General Counsel is a senior position within the legal department of a global technology company. The role primarily involves providing legal support and counsel to the IT and Legal Affairs organizations on technology-related matters and initiatives. This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various technology contracts, advising on data privacy and security issues, and staying up-to-date on emerging legal trends in technology. The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree and at least 8 years of experience in technology law. German language fluency and experience with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures are preferred qualifications. This is a full-time, hybrid role with up to 20% domestic travel. The expected compensation range for this position is $215,577 - $263,483.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide legal support and counsel to the IT and Legal Affairs organizations on technology-related matters and initiatives
- Draft, review, and negotiate various technology contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Advise on data privacy and security issues for technology contracts and related matters, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and teams to assess legal risks and provide strategic counsel on technology initiatives
- Stay abreast of emerging legal trends in technology and contribute to the development of company information policies and practices
- Manage and resolve technology-related disputes, working closely with key stakeholders and external counsel when necessary
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making on technology-related projects
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on technology legal matters
- Coordinate with the Sourcing organization and Sourcing counsels on strategic IT sourcing initiatives
- Create and provide training on data protection playbooks, guidelines, and self-service tools

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership preferred
- 8+ years of experience in technology law in a private, public, government, or military environment
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to provide practical legal advice and manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced business environment
- 5+ years of experience negotiating complex global technology contracts preferred
- German language fluency preferred
- Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures preferred
- Understanding of and experience advising clients in a diversified business environment
- Strong judgment, legal risk management skills, and ability to balance business needs, compliance obligations, and reputational risks
- Reputation for integrity and ability to balance business partnership with independent judgment
