Summary:

The Senior Trial Attorney position at Nationwide offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package for experienced attorneys with a passion for delivering extraordinary care to customers. This role will be based in the Pennsylvania Trial Team and requires prior insurance defense experience in various areas. The successful candidate should be proficient with case management software and Microsoft products, as well as able to work in a paperless environment. The job entails working on cases from start to finish and timely reporting to clients and claims customers. Nationwide provides all necessary equipment for this role.

Responsibilities:

- Independently represent clients under commercial and personal lines insurance policies as lead counsel or part of a team
- Maintain a highly productive case volume through efficient case management, collaboration, and utilization of technology
- Stay updated on changes to laws, technology, and other aspects of the legal and insurance industries
- Provide expert opinions on case valuations and maintain strong professional relationships with key associates and partners
- Mentor junior attorneys and staff, serving as a role model in terms of engagement, coaching, and efficiency
- Communicate effectively with clients, claims, and internal teams

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active license in the state of Pennsylvania
- Minimum of eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly collaborative and able to work with staff and attorneys on-site and remotely
- Excellent analytical and legal skills
- Proficient in basic software and adaptable to changes in the law and technology
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Leadership skills and ability to influence and motivate colleagues, clients, and partners
- Familiar with ethical rules and corporate policies and procedures

Working Conditions:

- Normal office environment, but may require remote work depending on office needs
- Frequent travel and occasional overnight travel
- Extended hours may be necessary to meet demands of the job
- Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
