Job Title: Counsel, Litigation

Overview:
- CN is seeking a Counsel, Litigation to join their team in Homewood, IL or Memphis, TN

Responsibilities:
- Manage US litigation matters, including grade crossing accidents, employee injury claims, and personal injury claims
- Respond to subpoenas, complaints, and causes of action against CN's US subsidiary railroads
- Collaborate with outside counsel and provide legal and strategic advice
- Develop strategies for US FELA non-litigated cases and work closely with Risk Mitigation team
- Negotiate directly with opposing counsel and participate in mediation sessions
- Provide thorough analysis of potential liability and exposure

Working Conditions:
- Standard workweek with three days in the office and two remote
- Available for overtime and weekend work when necessary
- On-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents
- Minimal travel (5%) to visit incident sites and meet with outside counsel

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of personal injury or defense litigation experience
- Degree in Law (Juris Doctor Degree)
- Member of good standing in relevant State Bar and Federal Trial Bar
- Knowledge of civil procedure rules and relevant court proceedings
- Familiarity with legal research tools and knowledge of FELA
