Civil & Appellate Litigation Paralegal: The West Virginia Attorney General's Office is seeking an experienced Civil & Appellate Litigation Paralegal for a position within the Solicitor General group. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong interest in the legal field who wishes to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, high-profile office. The SG group’s appellate-heavy docket includes civil and criminal matters and spans all practice areas across the Office. The group also works on statewide and national cases involving federalism, matters of first impression, and other significant issues for the State. Responsibilities of the Civil & Appellate Litigation Paralegal include: • Assisting attorneys in the preparation of appellate party and amicus briefs, dispositive motions, and administrative comments; • Drafting Attorney General Opinions; • Researching and providing strategic advice on high-profile matters to the Attorney General and other constitutional officers; • Editing documents; and • Helping to develop and drive litigation strategy. Excellent writing skills are required. A minimum of two years of experience in a legal environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have strong research and communication skills. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
