A law firm in Washington, ., is actively seeking a Junior Licensing Associate Attorney with a focus on mortgage lending, servicing, and financial services licensing matters. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in licensing new companies, assisting with changes of ownership, and evaluating licensing obligations for financial services companies across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This position will involve extensive legal research, direct interaction with clients and regulatory agencies, and drafting formal and informal correspondence and memoranda.

Duties:

  • Focus on mortgage lending, servicing, and financial services licensing matters.
  • Assist with all aspects of licensing matters, including licensing new companies, changes of ownership, and evaluating licensing obligations.
  • Oversee licensing processes through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS), including completing applications and supervising paralegals in the process.
  • Conduct extensive legal research on federal and state compliance laws related to mortgage lending and servicing.
  • Maintain direct interaction with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Draft formal and informal correspondence and memoranda.

Requirements:

  • Superior academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • 1-2 years of sophisticated licensing experience, with a bonus for mortgage licensing experience.

Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state compliance laws related to mortgage lending and servicing or a desire to focus on this area.
  • Excellent communication, legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
