Senior Legal Counsel, Data Protection - Remote (Washington ., Plano, Texas, Durham, North Carolina, Georgia)

Role Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with expertise in security and incident response to join our Data Protection Legal team within our Innovation Legal group. This role will report to Splunk's Director of Data Protection for Resilience, Trust, and Security. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with Splunk's Global Security team and Product & Technology teams to manage incident response, advise on security and resilience issues, and create programs and resources for various partners within the business. This is a remote position based in the . Eastern timezone, with a preference for candidates licensed to practice law in the United States.

What You'll Get to Do:
- Manage legal-side handling of incidents, including identifying potential legal risks and creating necessary legal work product
- Advise on public posts/resources regarding product vulnerabilities, service outages, and Splunk's security profile
- Continually propose/advise on operational recommendations/legal requirements related to security and resilience
- Create resources and trainings for the Legal and Field Sales organizations on key security/resilience topics and trends
- Partner with Data Protection Legal Commercial colleagues to advise on customer inquiries and escalations and draft amendments to security contractual terms

Must-Have Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience managing legal-side incident response related to security and operational issues
- 6+ years of experience building data protection/security/resilience programs
- 4+ years of experience advising on contractual provisions related to data protection/security/resilience
- Foundational knowledge of security/resilience regulatory and technical certification requirements
- Good understanding of commercial requirements for data protection/security/resilience compliance programs
- Experience with SaaS, cloud computing, and enterprise software
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Passion for security/resilience and staying up-to-date on industry and regulatory guidelines

Base Pay Range:
- SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area: $216, - $297, per year
- California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts: $194, - $267, per year
- All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area, and Washington DC Metro Area: $174, - $239, per year

Note: Base pay may vary based on factors such as work location and candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
