Director, Privacy & Data Protection - Exciting Opportunity at Leading Consulting Firm BDO

BDO is seeking a Director to join our thriving Privacy & Data Protection Practice in Washington, DC, as a subject matter expert and engagement leader. In this role, you will work with both domestic and international clients and professionals, providing global solutions to address their data protection and privacy needs. Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies for client C-suite/board
- Build cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
- Manage project teams and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of work product for clients
- Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO
- Comply with BDO’s quality risk management, data protection, and other frameworks
- Mentor and guide team members on project budget and scheduling
- Manage and maintain relationships with client professionals and introduce other BDO professionals to expand on existing relationships
- Ensure clients receive timely, actionable, and thoughtful responses to privacy-related inquiries
- Build relationships with other BDO professionals and cross-sell into different industries and services
- Update customer relationship management to ensure accurate pipeline reporting
- Review and provide feedback on client executive reports
- Develop proposals, respond to RFP/RFI’s, and manage Master Service Agreements and engagement letters
- Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide regular updates to clients
- Participate in and conduct interviews and meetings with various business units, legal, IT, privacy, and governance teams
- Manage BDO client and partner expectations at all levels
- Support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as needed
- Develop and manage project budgets, review invoices, and ensure timely delivery
- Act as a leader and maintain a professional, positive attitude towards clients and BDO personnel
- Manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis
- Supervise the workload of Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on assigned engagements and review work product as needed

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred
- 10+ years of consulting experience, 3+ years of data protection or privacy experience, and 5+ years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects
- One or more privacy certifications (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE, or other)
- Experience working with Fortune 500 clients preferred
- Familiarity with privacy-enabled technology solutions like OneTrust, TrustArc, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint
- Multilingual capabilities preferred

Salary Information:

Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, and location. The salary range for this position in various locations is:

- California: $200,000 - $225,000
- Colorado: $200,000 - $225,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $200,000 - $225,000
- Washington: $200,000 - $225,000
