Global Head of Tax

Brown Advisory is currently seeking a strategic and detail-oriented individual to fill the Global Head of Tax position within our Baltimore [Washington DC] office location. This position will be responsible for the oversight and direction of the corporate tax function, which includes corporate and partnership tax responsibilities. The Global Head of Tax will oversee the firm’s strategic tax planning, tax compliance and operational execution and development of talent.

We expect the Global Head of Tax to:

• Be a leader. This is a senior level position that requires strategic thinking, risk management, strong relationship skills, and a commitment to talent development.

• Be strategic. This position will partner with the Executive Team to identify tax issues and opportunities and develop recommendations that directly drive shareholder value. Stay current on trends and upcoming tax legislation to ensure our financial goals can be achieved in dynamic environments.

• Be proactive. You find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating our tax processes and systems, and find ways to be both innovative and compliant. You must be adaptable to changing circumstances and regulatory changes for both US and non-US tax regimes.

• Be collaborative. This role requires a track record of strong cross-functional collaboration on complex tax matters. You have the ability to simplify and communicate technical tax issues across functional areas.

• Be client focused. You desire to deliver the highest level of service and support possible to our team members across the organization as well as our clients. This includes a willingness to communicate and explain individual tax implications related to Brown Advisory equity ownership.

Position Requirements

Brown Advisory is seeking an experienced professional to fill the Global Head of Tax position. The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• 15+ years of relevant industry experience

• Minimum of a

• CPA License or Masters of Tax preferred

• Prior experience with corporate & partnership tax compliance & research required, including Subchapter K

• Prior International, UK specific, experience a plus

• Ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax business partners and stakeholders

• Efficiency, honesty/integrity, organizational and planning skills

• Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

• Positive attitude, work ethic, resourcefulness, and flexibility

• Experience leading people and building talent

• Demonstrated tax research skills

• Considerable tact, diplomacy and people skills

• Requires expert level of strategic thinking and strong management skills including vendor management relationships, planning, and budgeting and people management

• Must be willing to work out of our Baltimore, MD or Washington, DC office
