The Nonprofit Tax Manager is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, and identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations.

## Job Summary:

The Nonprofit Tax Manager is responsible for providing advice to clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex non-profit tax issues. The Nonprofit Tax Manager will be a critical member of the regional Nonprofit Tax team and actively participate in the marketing and networking within an area of expertise and specialization while maintaining client relationships and acting as the primary contact for complex questions.

## Job Duties:

Tax Managers are responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

- Ensuring clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens
- Conducting review of tax returns and resolving all tax issues with clients
- Planning for early recognition of material tax and compliance issues and consulting with the client and/or partner as appropriate
- Reviewing studies of tax implications and offering clients alternative courses of action
- Developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing current and future taxes
- Introducing and developing new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients
- Applying the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions
- Serving as a technical resource to peers within the region
- Supervising associates and senior associates on all projects
- Reviewing work prepared by associates and senior associates and providing review comments
- Scheduling and managing workload of associates and senior associates
- Providing verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates

## Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

In order to be eligible for this position, applicants must have:

- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics
- Five (5) or more years of nonprofit tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience
- Prior supervisory experience
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations)
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively delegate work
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skills
- Capacity to work well in a team environment
- Ability to compose written tax advice
- Ability to develop and manage a team of tax professionals
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients
