They are currently seeking a Senior Assistant General Counsel, Business Development to join their global legal organization. This role will be responsible for working closely with senior leaders and Business Development teams across the globe, supporting domestic and international M&A, complex licensing and distribution agreements, and related transactions. The Senior Assistant General Counsel will also be responsible for supervising other lawyers supporting Business Development. Key responsibilities for this role include working with business development leadership and other partners to execute asset divestitures, strategic partnerships, and other corporate transactions on a global scale. The Senior Assistant General Counsel will lead legal due diligence, develop and negotiate key deal terms, draft asset purchase and other agreements, ensure compliance with regulations, and manage post-closing integration and other activities. This role will also be responsible for conducting training and professional development activities for Elanco's global legal and business development organizations, as well as selecting and engaging outside counsel for critical support on complex legal, regulatory, and business issues.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least eight (8) years of corporate law experience within a large, global corporation or major law firm. They must be a member of at least one state bar in good standing and have experience managing and leading transaction teams. Other qualifications include effective communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, familiarity with specialized subjects in transactional matters, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate must also be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred skills and qualifications include familiarity with the animal health or crop science industry, prior experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, or medical devices, and a proactive, positive leadership style.
