About the Role

- Seeking an experienced attorney for the company's first in-house legal role
- Reports directly to the CFO
- Responsible for providing legal advice and support on company matters
- Drafts and reviews legal documents
- Oversees regulatory compliance
- Exciting opportunity for an attorney with private funds experience to make a significant impact on the company and shape the legal and compliance function at Turn/River

Key Responsibilities

- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, including fund formation documents, general partner agreements, investment documents, NDAs, MSAs, and employment agreements
- Manage outside fund counsel and review fund offering documents and side letters when launching new fund products
- Serve as the in-house legal expert with respect to provisions and mechanics of the fund governing documents
- Oversee the company's compliance program to ensure compliance with securities law and regulations as well as fund governing documents
- Work with outside counsel to manage legal matters requiring specialized expertise or additional resources
- Monitor legal developments in the industry and make recommendations to the business regarding process and policy updates

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of legal experience, including at least 3 years at a law firm
- JD (or equivalent) degree from an accredited law school
- Experience working in and/or with private equity, venture capital, or hedge funds
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, practical advice
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices for registered investment advisers
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diversity of teams and individuals

Location and Compensation

- San Francisco, hybrid work model
- Base salary range for this role is $300,000-$330,000, taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.
