The Organization of the Attorney General (OAG) is currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General II-III for their Law Enforcement Defense Division (LEDD). This full-time position, with a salary of $7,500 to $9, per month, is located in Austin, Texas. The LEDD represents the state's law enforcement agencies and their officials and employees in civil proceedings in both federal and state courts. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school, one to two years of experience as a licensed attorney in civil litigation, and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. They should also have knowledge of relevant law and legal principles and practices, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Handle all aspects of litigation, including legal research, witness preparation, client communications, case briefings, written discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, hearings, mediations, and trials
• Provide excellent client service and work well with other attorneys and staff
• Provide legal advice, counsel, and assistance to client state agencies and law enforcement entities
• Maintain knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
• Attend work regularly and comply with policies and procedures
• Manage a docket of moderately complex level cases

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
• One to two years of experience as a licensed attorney in civil litigation
• Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
• Knowledge of relevant law and legal principles and practices
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
