Job Title: State VRA Policy Fellow or Counsel

Salary Range: $83,000 - $125,500

About the State VRA Work:
- Enactment and implementation of State Voting Rights Acts (State VRAs)
- Focus on advocacy for State VRAs since 2001
- State VRAs take the best parts of federal Voting Rights Act and adapt them to local needs
- Active campaigns in multiple states

Responsibilities:
- Develop goals, strategies, and tactics for effective advocacy campaigns
- Draft and deliver testimony at state and local levels
- Conduct policy, legal, and other forms of research
- Write and disseminate reports, fact sheets, and other documents
- Conduct direct advocacy to key decision-makers
- Participate in and/or build national coalitions, partnerships, and task forces
- Engage in public speaking and trainings
- Serve as a spokesperson to media outlets
- Travel to relevant state capitals for in-person advocacy
- Develop and maintain relationships with state legislators and officials
- Comply with all applicable lobbying requirements
- Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree
- Minimum 3 years (Fellow) or 4 years (Counsel) post-JD experience in legislative advocacy or voting-related litigation
- Familiarity with voting rights issues and their impact on Black people and communities of color
- Demonstrated commitment to LDF's mission and racial justice
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to develop and manage relationships and partnerships
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully
- Self-motivated and goal oriented
