The AAG will be responsible for investigating and prosecuting violations of the Texas Free Enterprise and Antitrust Act and federal antitrust statutes. This is an excellent opportunity for licensed attorneys with a passion for antitrust enforcement or litigation to make a positive impact in the lives of Texans. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout Texas. As the State's law firm, the OAG provides exemplary legal representation in diverse areas of law. Position Functions: - Conduct antitrust and related litigation in both state and federal courts - Initiate and conduct antitrust and related investigations, including directing investigator and economist activity - Provide antitrust and related information to state and local governments - Perform all phases of civil litigation for antitrust cases, including drafting legal documents and conducting legal research - Represent the OAG in state and federal district and appellate courts - Provide legal advice, counsel, and assistance to client state agencies, local prosecutors, or law enforcement entities - Analyze factual and legal issues and develop evidence for filing antitrust cases - Manage a high volume of litigation cases and investigations (for AAG IV) - Assist with training and mentoring less tenured staff (for AAG IV) Qualifications: - Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree - Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas and in good standing - 2 years of experience in antitrust, complex civil litigation, or commercial litigation (for AAG III) - 3 years of experience in antitrust, complex civil litigation, or commercial litigation (for AAG IV) - Knowledge of antitrust law and legal principles and practices - Strong organizational and time-management skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional office environment - Ability to travel up to 5% for work purposes Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in antitrust matters or other document-intensive complex civil litigation - Knowledge of Texas and federal antitrust and trade regulations statutes - Ability to provide expertise in specific and relevant areas of law and serve as a mentor to division attorneys To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
