What Is the Opportunity?

- Growing in-house law firm focused on insurance coverage litigation
- Expanding practice in Illinois and Wisconsin
- Seeking Senior Counsel to represent company in state and federal court for Commercial and Personal lines insurance coverage disputes
- Serve as lead counsel on moderately complex to complex coverage matters
- Responsible for all phases of litigation from inception to resolution

What Will You Do?

- Argue motions and handle trials, status conferences, and other substantive and procedural matters in insurance coverage disputes
- Determine legal strategies and positions, provide advice on possible outcomes, awards, and settlements
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda to protect company's interests
- Propose, prepare, and respond to oral and written discovery
- Prepare and review legal fees budget for assigned cases
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and adversaries through counsel
- Provide recommendations and case analysis to business partners
- Complete administrative tasks such as time reporting and closed cases reports
- Adhere to high standards of file management
- Provide high quality, cost-effective legal advice to business clients
- Research legal principles and precedents within area of specialization
- Identify unique issues and recommend appropriate responses
- Proactively communicate risk and provide recommendations on mitigation
- Advise senior business clients on complex matters
- Stay updated on legal developments through review of publications and attendance at seminars and conferences
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor and coach less senior attorneys and paralegal/staff
- Utilize technology and automation in the practice of law
- Ensure timely submission of work product
- Perform other duties as assigned

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

- 6-10 years of experience in complex insurance coverage disputes
- Understanding of Auto, General Liability, and/or Property insurance coverage
- Strong lawyering skills, including effective oral and written advocacy
- Knowledge and expertise in legal specialty areas
- Strong negotiation skills
- Earns trust, confidence, and respect through consistent performance
- Ability to present information and advice in a clear, concise, and organized manner
- Proficiency with corporate and job-related technology
- Knowledge of business context and ability to act on legal issues in alignment with business objectives
- Demonstrates continuous learning and takes initiative to keep skills current
- Acts with integrity and influences others without using formal authority
- Identifies and utilizes corporate and outside resources to achieve goals
- Must be admitted to the Bar in good standing in Illinois, with additional admission to or willingness to gain admission to the Bar in Wisconsin preferred

What Is a Must Have?

- Juris Doctorate from accredited law school
- Minimum of 6 years' experience as a practicing attorney
