A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an Environmental Attorney with 5+ years of experience to provide counsel on various environmental matters, including mergers and acquisitions, permitting, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. The candidate will interface with colleagues and clients regularly and must possess strong writing and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on environmental matters associated with mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing.
  • Handle permitting issues related to stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Address emerging contaminants and renewable energy projects.
  • Assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.
  • Interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups.
  • Engage directly with clients to address their environmental legal needs.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one . jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Experience with federal environmental laws and standards (CERCLA, NEPA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, CWA, CAA).
  • Transactional experience in environmental law.
  • Familiarity with state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites.
  • Portable business preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in at least one . jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to provide strategic counsel on complex environmental issues.
